The Birth of My Website — happytoru
In June 2024, during my senior year of university, I launched my blog, happytoru.com.
At that time, I was struggling with my future and unsure about what path to take after graduation. To figure out what kind of work would truly suit me, I reflected on my life and asked myself: “When do I feel most happy?”
The answer I found was simple:
When someone says “thank you” to me.
With that realization, I decided to start sharing helpful information through my blog and YouTube, hoping to work toward My Life Goal. I had zero experience, so I learned everything—from setting up a website to creating content—through YouTube and online resources, building the site entirely on my own.
The website name “happytoru” comes from the idea that I (Toru) need to stay happy (=happytoru) and I want to spread that happiness to as many people as possible through what I share.

What is my life goal?
It comes from a Native American proverb:
When you were born, you cried and the world rejoiced.
Live your life so that when you die, the world cries and you rejoice.

I came across this message at one of the hardest moments in my life—when I lost a beloved family member and was drowning in grief.
To help myself heal, I watched a video on YouTube called “Zō no Senaka – Tabidatsu Hi” (象の背中 旅立つ日｜“The Elephant’s Back – The Day of Departure”).
There, in the comment section, I found the proverb — and it stayed with me.
Here’s how I interpreted it:
When the day comes for me to leave this world, I want to be the one smiling, and I want the people around me to cry—not out of sadness alone, but because they felt truly happy to have shared their lives with me.
For that to happen, I need to live a life filled with happiness myself, and I need to spread that happiness to my family, friends, and everyone I meet.
Because if I’m not happy, it’s hard to make others happy.
I believe that expanding this circle of happiness is my life’s goal—and the very reason I live.
Through my blog and YouTube channels, I want to share what I can and bring happiness to as many people as possible.
And when my time comes, I hope there will be many people whose lives were a little brighter because of me.
That is the life I want to live.

I’ll keep sharing helpful information that solves people’s problems, and creating videos that let you step into a New World — spreading happiness to as many people as I can.
I’ll continue to stay humble and keep working hard toward My Life Goal.
